Depok is a city located in West Java Province. It covers an area of 200.29 km² with a population density of around 9,421 people/km². Depok is known as one of the satellite cities surrounding Jakarta, with strong growth potential.
Administratively, Depok consists of 11 districts and 63 urban villages. The districts include Beji, Bojongsari, Cilodong, Cimanggis, Cinere, Cipayung, Limo, Pancoran Mas, Sawangan, Sukmajaya, and Tapos.
Geographically, Depok is bordered by DKI Jakarta to the north, Bogor Regency and Bekasi City to the east, Bogor Regency to the south, and Bogor Regency and Banten Province to the west.
Strategically located between Jakarta and Bogor, Depok was once part of Bogor Regency. It became an administrative city on April 27, 1999. Historically, Depok was a private estate owned by Cornelis Chastelein.
During the Japanese occupation, Depok was divided into three districts (kawedanan): Depok, Jonggol, and Cibinong. After the system was abolished, Depok became a subdistrict with 11 villages. Development accelerated during the New Order era, when the government began organizing Depok into a planned residential area.
A major turning point was when the main campus of the University of Indonesia was relocated from Salemba (Central Jakarta) to Beji (Depok). This drew more people to the city, boosting its growth. Infrastructure improvements, including road expansions, further supported Depok’s development, leading to its elevation as an Administrative City.
Today, Depok continues to grow, including in the business sector. Many office buildings have been constructed and are leased by reputable companies. Businesses can also rent office spaces in Depok through SewaKantorCBD.
Depok’s main strength lies in its strategic location near the capital while still offering more available space compared to Jakarta.
One area with strong business potential is Bojongsari, where rapid development has taken place. Economic initiatives such as ornamental fish farming and durian cultivation are being promoted.
Bojongsari’s progress is the result of government–community collaboration, enabling it to grow into a new business hub, often compared to Margonda, the city’s main commercial district.
Depok is well-connected through multiple transport options:
The availability of facilities and infrastructure makes Depok attractive for both businesses and residents.
As a growing city with strategic proximity to Jakarta and Bogor, Depok presents many business opportunities. Numerous office buildings are available, especially along Margonda Raya, the city’s commercial spine.
